We live in strange society…
We live in a society where ppl are always striving, always searching, and never satisfied.
We humans are constantly on the go— trying to reach the next “finish line.” And we rarely feel like we can just relax and enjoy the moment because there is always “something” that needs to be done.
But what if we decided to change the narrative and live a different way?
What if we choose to live life differently? And instead of striving/doing….what if we made an effort to slow it down?
What would it be like to just do the bare minimum? How could your life be improved by doing the bare minimum?
Doing the bare minimum
I practice this idea of “doing the bare minimum” as often as I can. And I do this as an effort to not over exerting myself….
What does doing the bare minimum look like?
Well for one— I take moments to examine my lifestyle (with open-loving, non judgmental awareness) to take note of the areas in which I’m taking on more than I’d like to. And then I make corrections to any areas of my life that may need it….
Sometimes that means small things, like saying no/declining an invitation to an event I don’t want to attend, especially when knowing I have other important obligations to fulfill.
“When I ask myself, ‘What’s the bare minimum I want to do today/this week/this year?’ I give myself the opportunity to breathe. Where things were once starting to feel overwhelming and energy draining, then starts to feel more achievable and light.”
Other times it is bigger, like resisting pressure to get everything done on my todo list, and just narrowing it down instead to doing whatever I feel is the MOST important task of the day, nothing more.
When I ask myself, “What’s the bare minimum I want to do today/this week/this year?” I give myself the opportunity to breathe. Where things were once starting to feel overwhelming and energy draining, then starts to feel more achievable and light.
LESS IS MORE
The goal is to create a sense of balance and ease in our lives. There’s no need to over complicate the life we live. If we don’t have the energy to go above and beyond, we can be light & allow ourselves permission to then take things slow. We don’t always have to be doing. Sometimes less is more.
We have to remember that we have sovereignty….we have choice…..we get to decide how our lives flow— and if that means doing the bare minimum, so be it. Our peace comes FIRST.
Keep it simple
My routines are simple. My workflow is simple. My life is simple.
….I’m simple!
But I’m definitely not stupid or naive for living this way!
I’m just choosing to consciously create my life, moment by moment, with every intentional decision I make.
And by simplifying, I free up energy to do the things that light me up. I’m able to see clearly, noticing the abundant opportunity this world has to offer. Allowing me to flow and play with life, curious & excited, like a kid.
My invitation to you is this:
In what ways can you explore to simplify your life in order to free up more energy to do the things that light you up?
Create a simple list of all the things you typically do, the hobbies you want to make time for, the monthly membership fees you’re paying, etc.
And ask yourself, “Is this lighting me up?”
If the answer is no, it could be time to let go!
And by letting go of what we don’t need, we make room for new blessings to enter our life.
