Self development is challenging AF.
And so if anyone ever told you growth and healing would be easy, I have different news for you…
“I am growing. And to do this with ease, I will get out of my head, & tune into my body.”
What healing is REALLY like
In short, the path towards healing & growth is incredibly challenging & if you hold on to false expectations or fairytale-like beliefs to how you think it should look, then you’ll find yourself very disappointed, very fast when you find out that it’s nothing like you probably imagined it would be…
We often hear about how growth & healing feels good. That it’s liberating and freeing. That it allows you to feel happy and peaceful. And sure…those moments may come as a result of healing, but it’s not guaranteed, nor will it happen right away. Healing mostly feels like…work!
The “secret” that nobody really talks about when it comes to self development or healing is that it takes time & requires a whole lot of energy from you. Real healing is not a quick fix. It requires you to dig deep & for you to do some REAL inner work….
But what does “inner work” look like or even mean?

Doing ‘THE WORK’
To over simplify…inner work is when you take purposeful steps towards self healing, self love, &/or self improvement, whatever that may look like to you.
Doing the work is going to look different for everyone, but a commonality will be that overall it requires effort. And so that means actually putting in the time to get to know yourself. It can also mean, paying more mindful attention to your process, staying focused & present, being patient, centered, & trusting in yourself.
Inner work is an emotional process of understating yourself & what shaped you. It’s being able to tune into yourself, acknowledging your shadow, addressing your pain & past traumas, becoming aware of your thoughts/feelings/behaviors, auditing any old beliefs/habits that don’t align with you, reading, learning, discovering, uncovering, day in & day out.
Community is a POWERFUL tool to utilize while on the journey of self development. Healing or growth takes a certain level of courage. As well as, it requires a great deal of awareness, acceptance, & discipline to get to a place where you can actually experience the benefits of self growth & healing. And while it’s no easy process, it’s certainly achievable & you can do it.
…Just remember to let go of what you think it should be or look like, and just allow yourself to flow with what arises, letting your life & healing naturally to unfold.
